The telecommunications and digital technology industries keep feeling the effects of the coronavirus. With people being required to work from home and stay away from others, the pandemic has heightened dependency on technology industry services.

 

Not just one industrial sector was afflicted by such a situation. Here are five ways we expect to see coronavirus impacting the tech industry in the coming year:

1. The coronavirus could highlight possible boost of virtual reality. VR companies have already been established as a method for enhancing employee training. A wide array of meetings can be held remotely via VR.

2. People are now investing in tech solutions as valuable crisis management in the society. Cities around the world now use smart city technologies to try to alleviate the coronavirus effect. Some are now using drones to spray disinfectant in the city. While others are innovating surveillance systems that could probably detect corona virus cases. 

3. There is an increase in the use of mobile apps. Most recently, health-related applications like exercise and fitness apps have gained significant attention. Most of the people are now relying on mobile applications in the new normal environment.

4. The need for 5G technology is now emerging. 5G is known for its lightning-fast speed and instantaneous communications. There are two main areas: telehealth, teleconferencing, which in this pandemic has become crucial for services. People highly dependent on these will further need 5G.

5. E-commerce is thriving during this pandemic outbreak. Since most people are scared to go out, everyone is now relying on online shopping. This enables businesses to understand customers’ needs better and meet customer demand.
